Project description:
During breakfast time, in the cafeteria of the Public School of Special Education Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz de Fuenlabrada (Madrid) adapted materials are used that facilitate assisted natural language and theparticipation of all students in this activity.
For this, material has been developed consisting of a tablecloth and a printed communication board made from the communicator AsTeRICS Grid to use.
When they go to the cafeteria, students use the AsTeRICS Grid multiplatform dynamic communicator and printed board to request breakfast. In addition, a placemat with pictograms has been created to work on communication and cognitive accessibility in the natural environment.
The placemats uses ARASAAC pictograms and includes a background photo of the school cafeteria, “Cafetería Sor Juana”, where the different groups of Infants, EBO and TVA of the school have breakfast every day and where the TVA students of the Catering Workshop do their internships.
On the laminated placemats, pictograms have been added to express greetings and basic politeness, requests for what is offered on the catering menu, descriptive pictograms about food and pictograms to know the proper way to behave during the stay in the cafeteria of the centre.
From ARASAAC, we congratulate the whole educational community for this great initiative and thank them for using our pictograms to carry it out.
